One of the most distinguished universities in Turkey, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University (BAİBÜ), located between the two metropolises of Turkey, Ankara and Istanbul, was founded on July 3, 1992. BAIBU, which has been growing rapidly since its establishment, has campuses in the center of Bolu and three districts (Gerede, Mengen and Mudurnu). BAIBU is one of the three examples in Turkey as a foundation-supported state university among other state and foundation universities. Prioritizing the production of science in line with international qualifications, the University observes national and international needs in the education process. BAIBU constantly renews itself by following scientific developments and technologies in Turkey with a research environment with international competitive capacity. BAIBU has made progress on this path since its establishment and has become one of the fastest growing universities. As of today, the university has 10 faculties, 4 institutes, 5 academies, 5 vocational schools and 11 research centers. Our university is proud to provide quality and contemporary education to nearly 25,000 students with its 1278 academic staff and 784 administrative staff. Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University is a university that prioritizes scientific research, follows international scientific developments, and adopts the mission of producing science according to its results. In this sense, it has carried out important studies through institutes providing undergraduate and graduate education as well as application and research centers. It has also started to prioritize social research on social problems in coordination with the Sociology, Psychology, Psychiatry and Special Needs Education departments. The most concrete indicator of these studies is that BAIBU has earned the right to be the first university where the “Violence and Crime Prevention Application and Research Center Management” was established. The subjects of this Center and the Sociology Department are specified in the regulation as follows: – Migration – Migrants, other social regulations and practices – Human Rights – Victim rights – Children at risk – Family under the influence of the global process – Violence between family and relatives. Education, risks and violence in the educational environment, equal opportunities in education – Disadvantaged people and their problems – All kinds of sociological field studies and public opinion research.
